Can't get the programme to run. Downloaded and upzipped it but when I go to
create a new game it tells me that "ADO could not find the specified
provider." Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, and rebooting didn't make a difference.

Joe, I am not surprised (inside joke :P)

A nice feature I'd like to request is - apologies if I overlooked how to do this -
are nation numbers hardcoded to the colors used? I loaded in my current
turn and the shade used for a neighbor is so close that I cannot tell them apart
without eyestrain. Is there a way to reassign the colors (per nation) ? Generate
the colors myself (per nation) ?

A properties file or ini file with entries from 1 - 25 looking like

1: #808080
2: #FFFF80
3: #00FF80 (etc)

would be extremely helpful and if you were happy with the defaults, would never have
to touch them. I know this is nit-noi and overall the program is FANTASTIC.

I would suggest downloading the latest version of mdac from the microsoft
website
