How are e-mail turns sent in? Do we need special
software?
strange. I'm reading from the top down, and I don't
remember anyone repling to this.
So i'll do it ......
email turns are sent in as a normal email letter (like
the one you used to ask your question). Rather than
use the postal service to deliver the orders to clint,
you use the internet.
Some 'rules' that apply to emails.
a) the subject line on your email needs to have the
game number, nation number, turn number, and account
number (that to allow clint to forward the orders to
the correct GM). I also include the same stuff in the
body of the email (which also have the security code).
b) the format of your orders should be in the same
format as they appear on the turnsheet. Thats because
Clint is used to seeing reading orders this ways. It
means less data-entry errors is we use a standard
format (and thats good for everyone).
c) don't send the orders as an attachment. Another
adrian found out that different versions of word
between him and clint were doing strange things to his
orders. Just type in the orders in the body of the
email, or use cut-and-paste to get the orders in the
body of the email. Attachments could contain virsus. I
plan to shoot the person who sends a virsus to clint,
and clint then sends it onto me (that or give their
email address to some site that gives out spam email).
d) the only special software is acrobat. But this is
used to read the turnsheets when they come FROM CLINT
to you (turnsheets are in pdf format, not txt or doc).
But you don't need anything special to get your orders
FROM YOU to clint.
e) acrobat can be download for free from all over the
net. Clint SHOULD have a link on his webpage (not that
I've looked). I download my version before I met
Clint.
And thats about it. basically you don't need anything
special to send your orders to clint, and the software
to go from clint to you can be downloaded from clint's
site.
thanks
