Payment query

We're about to set up the account so that you can pay and play in one of 3
payment schemes (maybe more).

UK Pounds
US Dollars
Aus Dollars
(Maybe German DM)....

This means that your account will be in the country of your origin (or
nearest appropriate). Thoughts? Ie you will be able to pay in US Dollars,
and have your turn run (at a FIXED rate) in dollars. So the prices between
the different payments will slowly alter to be different.

(Benefits are - you won't need to work out how much a "pound" is worth etc.
New players will find it a lot easier to be able to pay and play with less
confusion).

Thoughts?

Clint

Doesn't matter too much to me, but it would be nice.
One thing, why not skip the DM and just do Euros?

Clint,
I'm for it if means that the cost is the same. I'm playing too many
games for the cost to go up and I'm only thinking about playing more.

It's for the players in that particular country that they like to pay in

No point doing DMs: they disappear in less than three months so you'll have
to do the work all over again.

Also, can you include the option to override the default? I live in France
but I pay you with a sterling card, for example.

Gavin

Hardly anyone uses Euros...

Except for 150 million Europeans from 1/1/02.

It's for the players in that particular country that they like to pay in
their national currency wherever possible.

There is no point offering any other European currency payment method as
they mostly will disappear at the end of the year to be replaced by Euro. In
any event you will find that your Bank will no longer be able to offer you
an account in the European currencies that are disappearing and will instead
offer only an account in Euros.

Mike

Yes I was a bit surprised to see Clint's view of the Euro, somewhat
different to the economic facts ... not a euro-sceptic are we Clint?

(And if you are I can confirm that Europe DOES exist  )

It's a lot more than that: France and Germany alone account for some 140
million people.

And people *are* using them. I have already received two cheques made out in
Euros...

Gavin

Europe?. . . isn't that just east of New Jersey?!

Costs would stay the same to start with. Then as time went on they would
effectively change. I reckon that every 6-12 months we would bring the
turns back in line with the 3.90

I am aware of the legislature.... That's a year's time. Anything can
happen. But good enough reason to have it.

Yes, when you play, you would pay in s. (Nearest country and default).

My political views I keep to myself...

Yes I have been there... Greece is my favourite for the people

Clint

we have received one payment in Euros so far.

Gavin

But a few months after the new year DM's, FF's, Lira
will not exist. Would be a waste I would think.

Those of us in the Eurozone know the dates for the disappearing folding.
DEMs will cease to exist at midnight on December 31st this year. FRFs cease
to exist as a parallel currency on February 17th next. Etc. Bank transfers,
cheques and so on will be in Euros from January 1st.

So it's not a question of "a few months".
