Hey!
This has probably been covered already somewhere but my search came up empty. Is there a way to use Joverseer on a mac computer? If yes, how? If not, are there any workarounds?
Thanks!

A friend of mine has issue also with his Mac. Was playing happily for years, and now I have to ensure I send him a map…at the least, every turn so he can put orders together… Once you’ve used this app, having it taken away from you is a horrid experience - one that is close to costing the company money, at least in the case of 2 players I know…
Here is a response to a Mac OS issue - more than 18 months old, in fact…
jOverseer uses a third party library (jide) for some of the screen elements. But it’s a very old version, which is incompatible with java 7 update 9 and later.
So in theory and practice for me on a mac powerbook with OSX 10.5 it works in java6…the complication is that java 6 is supplied by apple and java 7 is supplied by oracle, and there are caches to clear out and fixes to be made etc, etc.
From the current available source code of jide, I can see the fix is simple.
I don’t have the source code to the old version of jide, and decompiling it and recompiling it didn’t work when I tried it.
So…I’m trying to build a later version of jide from source, and then see what new incompatibilities it introduces with it.
And it may result in either forcing jOverseer uses onto java7 and a new version of jOverseer, or different versions of the additional libraries for java6 users :(
Thanks! I think my friend will look for a pc to use.
