Prices

BE: Well we thought it was a good move taking over the non-existent Aussie
licence. Basically I think that the various licensees run around 6-8 games
all told (not sure about Spain - anyone got any information there?). We
think we charge a fair price (a little low if anything!) for the game.

For some it will be out of the economic range - I appreciate that, but found
that even when on Income support I was able to play one game of Serim Ral
(which was a tad more expensive!) For the amount of fun you get from the
game I think 3.90 is excellent value for money. The Aussie players will
help us to get them into games as well - they're presently not playing at
all so it's a bit of a punt into the dark there - better than no game at all
uh?

Have you seen how many licensees have decided that there was no money to
make in the PBM market for ME recently? - I think that GSI, DGE, 2 UK, 2
Germans, 1 Brazilian, 2 Aussie companies have left the market over the last
couple of years (these are what I know about). It's a false economy (for
the players) to under-price the game and I think damages the game and hence
your enjoyment. I think your "waited forever" quote is very accurate
here...

Clint,

I will be surprised if you get many more aussie players as a result of
buying the licence, I think most of them were here already! We were
never a big player pool I think, just talented <wink> not to mention
loudly obnoxious.

The Harly price suxs because of the exchange rate for the poor aussie
dollar, about 1/3 more expensive than if we were playing with the
aussie provider. The aus team actually discussed whether we should go
back to playing in Australia when PBM took over because of the cheaper
prices but we decided to stay with Harley because we would get better
competetion. At the time I think I suggested to you we aussies should
get a loyalty discount for staying with Harley but you never took me
seriously.

Before PBM took over, ME was being run by SFGA for a long time, for a
while we had a few yanks playing with us too (the ones who were sick
of GSI), SFGA were the only guys who were running it too I think.

anyway, just some history, probably not even accurate, how the brain
fades these days!
