Pricing structure of MEPBM

How does the idea of a discount scheme sound ?
You get a percentage reduction on turns in relation to how many games
your participating in. For example, I am currently playing 5
positions in 4 games, and about to take over a dropped position to
make it 6! With the new pricing, I am reluctant to take over dropped
positions. My budget is as follows.

6x£3.90 = £23.40 (current)

6x£4.50 = £27.00 (new scheme)

All my positions are 2 week games, so my monthly budget has risen
from £46.80 to £54, a rise of £7.20, nearly 2 turns a month on the
old pricing.

Therefore I propose that people who play quite a few games like
myself, get a percentage reduction for turns. For example, a 10%
reduction for having 6 positions, I would pay about £49 a month,
which is in the middle of the old and new pricing. Seems fair to me,
what does everyone else think ?

I don't want to do this. First we would have to code it - 3 months (as we have lots of projects we need to get sorted in advance) and it would have to change depending on circumstances and agreed discount rate. I can see many "schemes" that we can possibly put together which might be considered useful but would end up penalising certain players such as those on a low budget. On average players run 2 positions each (pretty good rough estimate this is). At present the game is payable and playable by pretty much anyone. To give a discount would mean that we would then have to up the price (or lose income) for players running less games right?

Your making me feel addicted ! The wife would certainly agree

<P> Sorry but I have to disagree, instead of giving
discount to players who are playing 2 games or more,
why not give discount to anyone who sends let say 20
pounds. e.g. I have just finished playing another pbm.
game, it was only a small game, they charged 2.50 per
turn, but what they did was for every 10 pounds that a
player sent in, they got a 50p discount, so in a mepbm
game if a player sent 20 pounds you could give 75p
discount, at the end of the day you want to keep and
attract new players,

Hey All,

Will the Wise please send me a reply to my little
trivia question? I knew the answer at one point, but
who wielded Ancaruin? One of the Eldar greats, I'm
sure. Just can't remember who.

Thanks,

Nick

We used to offer a price break for players who sent in large amounts of funds but we stopped that a while ago. It appeared to have no impact...

As for the pricing of games - we run different games at different costs - we feel that most PBM games are underpriced and the GMs under paid. I know it's a competitive market but each issue of Flagship you hear about another company that has folded, game that has ended etc. It's similar with Middle Earth - the large number of companies that have given up the ghost is into double figures now... Getting a fair price for a fair product is the hard bit... I count on the players to keep me in touch with the vagaries of the pricing and service that we offer.

Greetings Clint

As for the pricing of games - we run different games at different costs -
we feel that most PBM games are underpriced and the GMs under paid.

Which PBM do you mean? In my opinion MEPBM is not underpriced
If you see it from an objective point of view, players pay a turn fee for a
maximum of 42 orders (Which will be automated in the future) and the processing
and sending of the turn. I can imagine, that the license costs hell of a lot
money but
imagine
which work a GM does for the single player..... especially when I think of the
automagic
development.

On the other hand Me is a hobby for lots of people and hobbies belong to the
luxury goods
and are therefore quite expensive....

Getting a fair price for a fair product is the
hard bit...

MEPBM is a fair product, if you see the fun that alle the people have.
But when I look at GSI stubbornness about altering the game or giving us a
second edition
I do not think that it is such a fair product anymore.... whenever a discussion
started on this server
about proposed game changes, almost everyone had some ideas which makes me
believe, that MEPBM
is a good product, but not perfect.... players pay a lot of their turn fee for
the license and nothing is changed at all...
Harlys service is great but I fear that if theses price raises will go on like
in the last month some people will look for
cheaper offers, like I did. I think I allready told you Clint, that playing in
Germany is abou 30% cheaper per turn
the money transfer cost not included.

Hope you will deal with the situation and have alot of success

Stefan

from my point of view 4pounds or more is a lot of money for one turn, if you
