I would like players opinions on Prisoners playing in games with them
please. How should we handle this? Should we respect their privacy and not
send out the details that you are playing with prisoners or do you have the
right to have such information?
Should we announce that prisoners might be playing in a particular game? At
present only postal games have them in the game. Any legal advice on this
welcome - we think we are covering the law here but would like to check for
everyone.
If prisoners can pay, let them play. The only
complaint I have is the inevitable poor communication.
Frankly, we have no right to know if another player is
a prisoner or not--if they want us to know, they can
tell us.
The one action I might take is to group prisoners in
games if possible, and to load them equally to each
side. That might balance things, as both teams have to
deal with the same communications difficulties.

Clint, My problem is not with prisoners playing but them haveing access to
my address, phone numbers, or e-mail accts. In no other
situation would I give these out to someone incarcerated. I own a jewelry
store and have more then a usual vested interest here.

As others have said, my main concerns are giving out personal info (although I rarely give more than my email), and communication. I would hate to insist that postal players be segregated into certain nations, but I've seen firsthand what happens when a non-email, uncommunicative player gets an important nation like North Gondor (just as an example). I'd hate to handicap a team in that way.

I think, in principle, there is no problem with anyone playing in the game,
and I certainly have no problems with it.
On the positive side, any social interaction for such people can only be to
their benefit rehab wise; also, prisoners are likely to be able to spend
more time than the majority of us on their turns and can therefore add a
great deal of value in a team game.
On the negative side, as I see it, would be a lower level of communication
given the lack of access to email and, from a security point of view I would
feel uncomfortable with my address and number being available to people who
may be serving time for burglary etc.
Provided a few precautions are taken from the centre, I see no reason why
prisoner privacy should not be respected without compromising other players.
Just my thoughts,
Simon

I personally would not have a problem with prisoners playing in a
game, but try to even it out due to the lack of communication that
will come with that situation. Also I do believe you should forwarn
players there will be a prisoner playing in the game. In this regard
players who do not want their personal information available to a
prisoner can arrange so this would not happen.
