PRS contd

Clint,
I would guess from your e-mails you are seriously considering adding a PRS
to the game?

If so what exactly are YOU proposing, why are you considering it and how
would it operate.

There seems to be different views, many contradictory, (VPs seem to be very
much part of the discussions as far as I can see), on what this is about.
Perhaps you have gone through this before but for those of us who have only
recently taken notice of it, which seems to be several judging by the list,
perhaps you could enlighten us. Player opinion seems quite strongly split on
this one.

As a long time player of the game I have found that my attitude to playing
it has changed. In the beginning I just wanted to play. Any position or team
would do, just let me play. I then went through a phase of wanting to only
play team vs team until I realised that given two teams of equal ability it
would be the team with the most fascistic control which would win. This has
put me off team games to some extent. Throughout I have always liked to play
a couple of random games away from my team games and it is these that I have
increasingly come to enjoy. From the arguements made by the Pro PRS people
it is implied that these would no longer be such random games. If that is
the case, then why would you be changing an element of the game which I and,
to judge by the list, a number of other players value highly? Whilst a PRS
may keep some players in a game longer or help enthuse new players, both of
which I strongly doubt, it may well also remove an element that keeps others
playing.

Sometimes there are problems that do not have a solution that produces
something good and I suspect this is one.

I await your response with interest?

Regards
Chris Courtiour

No. More information is always better, just like Playing
the game. Whether you choose to use, look at, or ignore
the information is up to you. It isn't your choice at the
present, because the information is not available.

So, on principle, if it isn't too much bother, it's worth
doing right there.

Would this information being public have such a drastic
effect on the behaviour of the masses of players to change
the nature of the game to the extent you fear?
I don't think so. Independent "Games Filling" will always
be full of surprises!

Still hunting information. I sent out one set of thoughts - looks like
there is some interest out there for this. Note I am planning on using the
old as one method (so that that aspect of the game is not changed) and the
new ideas brought out without the old VPs. I know I won't please everyone
with it - but maybe we can please some of them?
