Have you considered the possibility that the dragons may have had
substantially different combat values? The figure given in the Mouth of
Sauron, of 45,000, is calculated from one battle, with one particular
dragon (Throkmaw). The descriptions of the dragons in encounters sometimes
mention size or age. If this in any way reflects say Dungeons and Dragons
(1st ed) rules, it would suggest a huge variance - an Ancient dragon has
twice as much hit dice and killing power as the younger types. No doubt
someone has knowledge of the ICE rules on which MEPBM was based - I expect
it's something similar. Could be that you had the baby dragon, and your
enemy had the grandad!
I had Throkmaw -- the very same dragon you are talking
about and i only gave him 10000 to giving the other dragon Angurth 25000 !!
