Question regarding 475 destroy bridge

Greetings,

I have once been told that a strategy to prevent a bridge from being build and a surprise attack by armies to cross the same turn (fx around the Osgiliath pass) could be prevented by issuing a “blind” destroy bridge order, by the opposing force.

The problem however is that the rules states that destroy bridge is order 475 which is before build bridge which is order 490. So in practise this should not be possible.

Can anyone confirm that 475 can NOT be used to take down a bridge which is being build the same turn.

A sabotage bridge order could take it down tho

Kim,
You probably heard wrong. It can only be done with a good enough agent that happens to be in either of the hexes that the bridge would cross to. It could not work the way you descibed with army commanders for the very reason you described. HOWEVER, with an agent that is good enough in the hex, he/she COULD sabotage the bridge on the same turn it was built and it would happen before any armies could travel across it. But, that would waste the agent’s order if no bridge was built for him to sabotage. This topic had come up in one of my games when the other side did a timber buyout and we had an agent that happened to be in the right hex at that time. We didn’t bother with that order so we never tried it but we did figure out that it could (and should) work.

I’ve seen the agent sabotage bridge work on the same turn it was built.

Kim,

forget the army comm for exactly that reason. Go the agent sabotage, it definately does work (well within random chance and skill level limits)
