Question regarding Scry spells

Hi folks,

I am wondering what factors affect the amount of intel i get from a scry spell. I know from the description that it depends on how close I am to the target. I am wondering:

  • what other factors, if any, affect the level of intel? mage rank? casting rank?
  • does anyone have a rule of thumb on how close I need to be to get different levels of intel?

Thanks in advance for any input.

John

I’m not sure about all of that but I have tended only to use scry spell with Palantirs, then it seems pretty accurate all the time.

Mage rank has an impact depending on the spell. Scrying for artifacts tests mage rank against the strength of the artifact while revealing pop centres has a straight test against mage rank.
Casting rank is used to successfully cast the spell but the quality of the information uses mage rank where there is a test.
Palantirs use a mage rank built into the artifact to determine the level of information which is why they can be used by non mages.
