I believe it was proposed as a way to encourage a few players to spend more money, and reward them with bragging rights over those that do not spend more.

In the midst of all this, does anyone actually remember *why*
the ratings idea was proposed?
I know I don't.

I now believe you're beginning to undermine yourself, and that in your crusade you are beginning to flail at all targets without distinction. Your sentence above is offensive and factually incorrect. PRS systems were first proposed by players over a year ago. I think it may well have been me who raised it initially. If it wasn't, then I was certainly one of its earliest advocates. I have no commercial interests on Mepbm games, and have always campaigned against anything I have perceived as their attempts to squeeze more cash out of the existing player base. The PRS is not one of those ploys. It is an honest attempt to make the game better. Certainly if it does that, it will improve their income - but if they do that by making the game better, and bringing in more players, that's a perfectly good thing.
PRS as I suspect you well know, was proposed to make the game better, by making it more fun, and entertaining for long term players; to give better objectives for new players; and to make "grudge" team recruitment and balance easier. You may well think that the current proposals achieve none of these goals - and you have argued so at length and with passion - but please don't "go over the top" and start making accusations of dark and sinister motives.
