My starting premise is that Clint & Co want to spend more time responding to
player queries, setting up variant games & otherwise developing the game for
our benefit.
Well, what they said was that they don't like doing the job we pay them to do, and thus want us to do that part of the job for them. The reward for us doing the part of the job that they don't like, is to be excluded from price hikes that are obviously little more than a stick to the backside of anyone that chooses not to do their job for them.
Clearly there is some self-interest in this - but it is at
least mutual to the wider player interests.
It isn't mutual to me. It would be mututal to me IF it was a price cut for eliminating the largest part of their job. As is, I get nothing, they get me doing thier job for them.
Your starting premise seems to be that Clint & Co want to screw you.
No. My premise is that they want to put the burden of the new system on us, giving us no reward for doing thier job.
However, to rephrase my earlier post: if
your customers / employees / whatever talked to you the way some of your
emails have read - I reckon you'd punch them on the nose. And I wouldnt
blame you for it. So please make your points more calmly.
If a customer spoke to me, the way I spoke to ME, then I'd work my tail off to figure out if the concerns are real. If real, I'd address them. If not, I'd examine the message, clerify (not simply restate that the customers are expected to do thier jobs for them, with no reward except exclusion from a stick), and listen to the customers concerns. Ignoring customer concerns is the one sure way to go bankrupt.
It makes sense to me that they don't want to lay people off, and thus can't afford to drop their rates. However, if they can't drop their rates, then they can't expect to tell the customers that they aren't going to do their jobs anymore. I'm paying for a service, and they require me to do that service for myself, and not give me a price break. And to use the excuse "our employees don't like doing thier jobs"? What were they thinking? Of course they were going to get the response, "Too bad!". I don't like my job. I'm not going to go to my boss and tell him he has to do my job for me, or I'll charge him more if he keeps making me do my job. If I hate my job, I should quit. I can't afford to. Therefor, I keep doing my job, andf look for ways to make it easier without putting the burden of the change on my boss.
