Recon question

I had a commander do a recon that reports X army in adjacent hex- cmdr X and X troops.

BUT, the recon hex map shows NO army icon. I dont think I've ever seen this before.

Can anyone explain this?

Two possibilities:

1) You are Russia in 1914-17
2) Your commander has been drinking Canadian beer

This happens because the map and report are created at 2 differant points
in the process.
The report is created at the point the 925 is done, whereas the map is
created at the end of the turn.
So in this case something has happened between those points in the turn.

Well, lore spells and transports don't do anything with armies... but
some encounters happen near the end of the turn. Such as meeting with,
oh, Sauron or Gandalf -- either of whom can easily disband an army of
the other allegiance.

"Things fall apart, the center cannot hold." Yeah, and?
You're complaining about entropy? Things are always falling
apart, and it's up to us to be always putting them back together.

I've seen this a couple of times. I was told it was due to the slight "fog
of war" element of the game: sometimes a commander/scout *thinks* he saw
something, but didn't.

Just as a spell can fail, a scouting report can be wrong. I'm told.

Indeed I have seen a Recon (with a 70+ commander by the way) state no army
in the hex in which the recon took place but the army he is with reports an
army in the hex. Confused me lots...
