Is it possible to just 705 (Research Spell) that spell again that you already know (if you have it on low casting rank and want to try and get a higher one), or do you have to use the 700 (Forget Spell) order first, and then 705 (Forget Spell) it again?

I screwed an order up once and tried to learn spell I already knew and was told on turn sheet I could not learn spell as I alredy know it. If I can remember which game I;'ll try to find it and give you actual wording. So you have to forget first.

If you want to get a higher casting-rank, you first must forget the spell and try to learn it again.
But it will depend on you mage ( and unfortunately on the cubes ), if the new casting-rank will be better.
I’ve seen really good mage learning hard spells with a bad casting-rank.

Jup, It’s just a Conjure Mounts that I wanted to relearn. When I learned it firstly with a 40 mage, I got casting rank 40, and then I 700 and 705’ed it again, getting 50 (Which is nearly as useless). Have seen other mages at same mage rank getting it in the 70-100, so I wanted to give it one last shot, just wondered if you could omit the forget orders first
Yeah… that what we firstly called our Danish Grudge game team, think we decided to change it to something else… think it was Danish Vikings or so Have I played you before?

Yes, sometimes the rules of ME are boring, but you can’t do much against it.
Unfortunately I’ve done it before, you must know I’m always using the same-move-sheed.
Sometimes, in the case I haven’t checked my moves close, I used the same order again.
So I’ve tried to (re) learn the same spell again and that haven’t happened up to now
That’s only that what I can tell you about my experiences, sometimes there are some possibilities, but I won’t bet on them.
Are you only playing with this Danish Dynamite ?

Worse one for me was learning Weakness (1000 game), forgetting it as it was too low a rank, learning it again, worse rank so forgot it again, learnt it again, WORSE again!, forgot it so decided to kill the character and jump up and down on my turnsheet (well nearly!)

I agree to you.
Many nations have startring-charaters that better should have been disbanded at the first turn.
Unfortunately they don’t do it in the most cases.

I’m currently in two games, Game75, where I am DS on turn 49, and close to ending this one, and Grudge76 (Team Danish Vikings) where we are DS on turn 7.
I’m going to keep playing grudge games for now at least, and with my Danish mates. We can though maybe get a grudge up and running when this game is over (don’t looks like it will soon though :).
On relearning spells… It is so god damn random, with two 40 mages I learned 508 on 40 and 100 in rank! 700 and then 705’ed the spell again, and got it on 50 
So last shot this time, and it will probably end with me jumping up and down on my turn sheet as Clint did 
No that is true. Game 76 will at least run for another 4 turns

Hi Per,
do you have tried to forget a spell and releraned it with a mage-artifact > 30, sometimes you will get a better casting-rank.
If this won’t help ( and you would have wasted many orders meanwhile ) there is only one thing you can do : try to get some mage-artifacts. They will help you to cast the spell enourmously.
But I think you still know that !
You’re only playing grudge-games ?
For me the diplomacy is an important thing and I like to communicate with neutrals and convince them to join my team.
Okay that takes some time, but I love the diplomacy comming up with a new ME-game.
If I only need to fight some battles, there are better games to play.
Do you’ve tried Adventurer Kings ?

Yeah only grudge games for me, its not the combat of ME that I like, its the whole team aspect of the game, when you share . to try and pull of some nasty tactics

Hmn… havent played theese nations 1,2,7,9,11,12,18,21,24,25.
Only played ME (1650) for 2½ years now. Played 8 games, of wich 2 are still running.
Those chars are usefull, no worries Conjure Mounts always rocks.
