Okie, once you've answered a riddle incorrectly, do you need to
examine the encounter again, or can you keep on answering it untill
you get it right? And can you answer several times in a turn, and/or
with several characters?

RD: You do NOT need to react to the encounter. You can go straight on and answer the riddle. Recently proved this twice.
I've never tried answering several times in a turn, but I doubt very much if it works. Only ONE character is allowed to respond to an encounter so I expect it is the same with riddles (it ought to be!).
