Just off the top of my head, I’d guess “Beleriand”. But I don’t know for sure if that’s right, so don’t take my word for it without some checking.

Ok, so I know this was posted 14 years ago, but better late than never eh. 
“Beleriand” worked! There were a lot of more specific answers that seemed possible, but Beleriand did the trick.

It’s an interesting riddle too because Beleriand itself is divided into eastern and western parts…
