A Dwarven kingdom was there it is said
A place of great wealth and great dread.
Of the people there now are none
And the keep of the place has been by the golden won.
I’am looking for an answer from anybody who might have answer i have a collection of riddles from back in 90’s where i collected these but i don’t have this in my database looking for some help from all of you for a correct answer:
Brian,
I’ve not come across this riddle before but “Nargothrond” or “Nulukkizdin” may be worth a try.
First inhabited by the Noegyth Nibin (some type of petty dwarf) it then became a Noldorin kingdom.
It was sacked by Glaurung (“the golden”) and later deserted…

I would suggest “Erebor” for the answer. Smaug was also known as The Golden, and a great Dwarven kingdom (known for its immense wealth) was there until conquered. Nargothrond did initially have the “little Dwarves” but never was a great Dwarven kingdom. If anything, it was a great hidden Elven stronghold until Turin revealed its location, causing Glaurung the first dragon (also had the Golden monicker) to come destroy it.
My two cents,
Mark F.
Mark,
Good 2 cents,
Erebor is a much better answer as it was known as “Kindgom under the mountain”.

Adam
I’ve done this riddle before. Erebor or Lonely Mountain has worked in the past.
