Subject: Riddle Help Needed

Hi!

I have a riddle and I am totally clueless at
riddles. Can Someone give me
some insight as to how I should answer?

Thanks!

In earlier times a man known in grey

man in grey --> thats generally gandalf (as he dressed
in grey)

was suddenly at a loss for what to say.

at a loss --> when did gandalf not know the correct
think to say ?

Words, commands, and phrases left it bound

left it bound --> something was shut, and gandalf
couldn't get it opened.

til this attempt did at the entry sound.

THIS ATTEMPT at the entry sound --> so what was the
phase that gandalf finally used to open something that
was shut ???

Methinks we are talking about the gates of moria. Do
you want the answer, or do you want it look it up
yourself (as you only asked for insight, not the
answer itself)

thanks
din

p.s still heartbroken I only log on once every couple
of days :frowning:

Hi, Randy. Get out your copy of Fellowship of the
Ring and see the
word Gandalf used to open the west door of Moria.
Not sure whether
the riddle is looking for the Elvish or English
version, but I would
try the Elvish, since it's in the book and it is the
exact word he
used.

Best,

Mark Jaede

I have done the sieging thing a number of times. If
you don't survive the
battle with the troops, you don't even have a battle
with the pop center. I
get no report of the pop center being under siege
because I never lived to
attack it.

If I do survive the defending troops, I get the pop
center report and the
statement that it has been under siege.

Randy
