Scenarios

If we are discussing massive and difficult coding changes, then one of the things I would most like to see would be some really different scenarios based on the same rules engine. Different as in different map, different nations, completely different game based on the same system, much like Legends has. Keeping the Middle Earth theme could involve the Morgoth vs Elves wars, or an alternate licensing agreement could maybe be found from another major fantasy series (Wheel of Time? Belgariad? Possible others?) or a new world could simply be invented from scratch, like the various Legends worlds.

Advantages might include:
1. Balance factors might be easier to adjust because no one could argue things like "but the books never discussed that" or "but nation XX didn't have a navy." Nations could be adjusted based on actual play balance with no concerns about how much stealth the Noldor SHOULD have to be Tolkein accurate.

2. An alternate map might actually make a naval war meaningful, in a way that the current map simply doesn't.

3. Different map would present entirely different strategic goals. Possabilities for lots of completely different encounters etc.

4. If an alternate series were used it might appeal to an entirely new fan base.

5. All of these proposed rules changes could really go to creating an XXXPlayByMail using the core of the GSI concepts like 5-21 characters with 4 skills & 2 orders each etc. (which I think 99% of us enjoy or we wouldn't be on this list) while leaving the current game more or less in place for the benefit of the players who are happy with the game as it sits.

Clint,

I sent an email to the Allsorts address and to the
Me@middle.... address, but you guys sent me the wrong
turn for game 61. I am the Long Rider #109610, but
you sent the #109611 pdf file for the Fire King which
is no biggie because he sends me his turn anyway, but
I am anxious to find out what happened to "my" guys...

Thanks
