Server problems!

Hi,

Our antivirus software caught hold of two viruses over the weekend. We
didn't get infected thanks to the safety measures, but it did mean that our
server system did not work as intended.

A few of you will have received about 20 responses to your email. Sorry

The rest of you will only have received your email responses this morning.
Also apologies.

If you are interested, one virus is called SEICHO blah blah. EXE the other
comes in a spam email in a Mediterranean language I don't speak.

We have not been infected. We have not sent this virus out to any of you.

Thanks for your patience.

Sam (System admin guy)

RD: Well caught Sam. I wondered what all those responses were about. You
must be Harlequin's unsung hero!

What do they teach you about double negatives? It's lines like this
that put the Fear of Sauron into me.....

Send it to my private email - always curious...

Still working on
Clint (i've got one name, but anyone under 18 isn't
allowed to read it - so I won't mention it).

No double negative here. "We have not sent this virus to none of you."

There was no double negative in that line... He didn't say anything about
not sending it to none of us. He said "we have NOT sent this virus out to
ANY of you" (emphasis mine). The NOT is a negative and the ANY is a
positive. Wherever you went to school, they clearly need to review math, or
what a negative is, or both.

Well, as the spirit of my inane wit either missed the mark totally,
or slammed into this gentleman like a brick wall.

Mr Math,

I do believe you recently introduced yourself to this board, again.
Well, either you are aware that I am an easy consensus target for this
kind of idiocy, or you are soon to become less popular than I....

And, it's more grammer than math, if one wants to nit pick. If you
are merely considering the 2 concepts expressed by the 2 sentences,
then they contradict each other, no? Not my fault Clint lays these
traps for us anal nit-picking morons to leap all over....

Best Regards,

Brad Brunet

ps - out of childish spite, my greatest wish is for you to be a
Dark Servant in 1650 game 66....hehehehehe

My apologies for stepping on toes. But, a double negative must be within
the same contextual statement. He made two statements. First, that they
were not infected. The second, that the virus wasn't spread to the rest of
us. Both individually were proper. Collectively, they actually clarified
that, not only did they catch the virus before it damaged their system
(other than to bring them to a screeching halt, evidently), but they didn't
let it pass through the system to the rest of us. You can spread a virus on
a remailer without being infected. He was saying neither had happened. If
you really want to nit pick... But then, I was just trying to be my usual
picky self as well. No harm, no foul. OK?

greetings.

My folks are doing a 3 week visit to NZ starting this
Sunday.

I'm thinking of asking them to check out the LoTR
movie being made and grab/buy what's available to the
public (like a poster). Since the filming is over, its
not as if they can get a photo of the main sets, but
the office must be selling PR stuff.

My question : Does anyone know if there is anything
available to the pubic ?, i'm thinking posters, photos
of the set and crew, etc. But I'm unsure where the
Peter Jackson office is.

thanks

my condolences

the upside is the kiwi is one of the few currencies where an aussie
buck is actually worth something!

this part confuses me. I know they are releasing the movies every
December for 3 years but have they finished filming just 1 movie or
all 3?

thanks,

They did wait till zena has finished being made before
they visited (and btw, I hear that the star from zena
wants the role for the new wonder women movie. My jaw
has dropped already.)

OI !!!! its the aussie PESTO, not the aussie BUCK. A
buck is the total amount of money that i'm getting out
of the new aussie budget

:frowning: - actually I don't mind not being bribed. Its not
being fleeced that i'm happy about.

All 3 were made at once. It is MUCH CHEAPER. But they
get released one a year. I'm confused how the public
will remember what happened in the previous movies.

I expect movie 1 and 3 will set mega-records (1 to see
what's it about, and 3 to see how it ends), but movie
2 will be a bummer (with no clear beginning, and no
clear ending - who wants to spend money on that).

···

thanks,
Stags.
