Okay as per player request I'll be checking emails that go to this list.

I will only allow players who sign their names to post to the list -
unfortunately I have had too many players drop from this list and even two
players drop from the game due to content on this list directly attributable
to unsigned diplos. :frowning:

I won't be editing or otherwise moderating the list. Players or interested
parties who are presently not playing with us will still be able to post.

This should also stop the "Naught"ies coming through.

I'll start this sometime next week. For anyone who wants me to respond
to present emails then get in touch with either a signed email or to me
direct at work.

Hi,

I will only allow players who sign their names to post to the
list - unfortunately I have had too many players drop from this
list and even two players drop from the game due to content on
this list directly attributable to unsigned diplos. :frowning:

I would suggest that in-game diplos (which can perfectly naturally be
signed as whatever name the writer chooses) should be confined to the
web message board - this is in fact largely the case already.

Any messages to this list should, in my opinion, be signed by a
person's real name. A combination of problems arising from this,
together with the rude, ill-humoured behaviour of a small minority,
have damaged the enjoyment I derive from this game to the extent that
I am withdrawing from this list. It is sad also that people cannot
praise a game without being accused of brown-nosing.

I will continue playing the game and will no doubt enjoy it all the
more for the absence of certain people intruding on the pleasure I
derive from a hobby.

Colin Forbes

Colin,

Just put "those people" in a kill file or ignore list or something (I'm not
sure what email program you use, but surely it has something along these
lines.) "Those people", as you said, are a great minority and it's a shame
that decent people would leave the list because of it.

Or better yet, just ignore them if they attack you personally. Replying and
defending yourself only fans the flames in most cases and that's exactly
what "those people" want.

聽聽I think that sometimes, people who make remarks like 'brown-nosing' do not realise how offensive they are. When I was promoted at work, I was accused of 'brown-nosing' by certain of my colleagues. There is absolutely no point in dignifying such comments by a rational denial. Hurtful though it was, I dealt with it with humour.

聽聽It isn't quite the same on this list, as you have the option to walk away, but if you do, the guy who has insulted you has won. Don't let the b***s get you down!

Gavin

The term is an abbreviated term from one of the Dennis McKiernan Iron
Tower trilogy books. In it the boys from the village played a game
similar to King of the Hill, except they contested for a large
stepping stone over the local stream. Rill is another term for stream
so their game was actually called King of the Rill, the Winner, King
of the Rill Rock.

When I was first setting up an email account I wanted something
obscure that most people would not think of as a form of security.
The Name of the Account has no link to me personally unless you were
very familiar with my reading habits and could remember that specific
term was in one of the books I had read. So I thought it would
protect my identity from those who had no business reading my email.

So not terribly creative on my part credit Mr McKiernan, while you're
at it read the Iron Tower Trilogy, it is an action packed yarn where
his version of the Hobbits are the main protagonists.

Hope that satisfied your curiosity.

I'm taking a short holiday to sort out some non-work stuff. Lots of fun and I'll try to deal with any specific queries but just so that you're aware if I don't answer back as quickly as you might be used to.
