Are we really still "trying out" the "test" of the "new" module, Kin Strife?

Really?

- Steve M.

Similar to a post on www.pbmforum.com there are questions in regards to the overall decline of the game. At what point will it simply disappear? We see no investment or resources (time/money) into developing, improving, updating the game itself, the website, even such esoteric admin items like the turn result email.

How much longer do we have...? :frowning:

It is a shame; I don't know how many players are
chomping at the bit for new modules but I rather
doubt it's a sizeable portion of the player
base. I don't know what would bring people into
the game (or back into it) but I would have bet
that new SNA's for Fourth Age would come ahead of
a new module, just for starters.

The testing is almost finished, we have most of the bugs fixed now and I'm currently setting up the first open game of Kinstrife.
Your right I should get that message updated for this Friday.

Kinstrife isn't just a new module it's the test program for a conversion from the original Mac based code to a more flexible build based on up to date PC's.
Once we have Kinstrife working fully we'll be working on 1650,2950 and 1000 versions using the same engine, in fact we've run a few games of 1650 on this code (although we had a few issues).
The new engine is a lot more accessible for us so we can change almost anything within the game including SNA's and encounters (testing that aspect is the reason we've started with Kinstrife) and for example switching orders on and off for particular games.
Also as it's based on a simpler database structure once we've designed and run a scenario I can cut and paste the changes to a newly created game rather than making the changes from scratch again so they'll be easier to set up and there won't be any errors.
The original code that we use to run the games doesn't allow us to do things like add new SNA's and scenarios like UW and BOFA are about as different from the original game as we can get.
I know some of the more visible parts of the game (like the frontsheet) have been neglected but we have very limited resources and only 1 full time employee (me) and I tend to make things like that a lower priority than running the games and working on the new code. I hope that after we've made the transition I'll be able to spend more time working on things like that and perhaps even other new scenarios (possibly even not based on Middle Earth).
