Anyone have an idea for how much damage Eagles, Woses, Ents, Mumakil, and the like achieve in army combat?
(I know the basic mechanics: they act as a one-shot combat spell doing hideous amounts of damage), but I’d like to know how much damage they do.
Tony, you are an Olde Tymer yourself and doubtless have your own views on this. I’m willing to EXCHANGE them with you. In my experience, plus or minus, ents are worth about 17,000 strength points, eagles around 10,000 and woes 5 or 6 k. What has been your experience?
Ed,
I figured they were 15K, 10K, and 5K myself. What I really wonder is what the value of a Balrog is. When I played freep in 2950 I was never the recipient of a balrog’s tender graces. As a DS in 2950 I did recruit two of them (in different games and nations and only one at a time)
Balrog of Moria figures into be about as powerful as Smaug using an old sheet a former MERP archivist friend provided me once (65,000+). “A Balrog” I had a few years ago from 2950 experience (limited) in around the mid/bottom dragons. Enough experience with Hobbits and Lossoth out there (appx Woses?)?
I think hobbits give a morale bonus, so it depends on the troops they are bolted to.
Adrian
PS i am also interested in the mumakil. The others have come up in the forum as i had them pegged ie: 5K, 10K, 15K then it’s up to the dragons and balrog.
In a game I had about 700Hi run into the Rhudaur starting cav 600hc/600lc. Hobbits participated in the fight and it was mutual destruction. I do not know the bonus however. Plus the provide a scout.
Woses are 9000ish. Have had them a few times in the past and game reports swapped at the end of the game allowed us to get an exact figure, ok rounding for decimal fractions. Should really hunt out the old games for the different ents and the Balrog, not THE Balrog but the one you can pick up near the Gap of Rohan.
