Riddle could be Erebor, with the Golden One being Smaug who drove out the dwarven people. That’s my guess.
One of Smaug’s nicknames was “The Golden”
I would guess Erebor as well.
Erebor is the correct answer. I’ve answered this riddle a few times before…
