Sadly, Jeremy is winding down from ME-PBM, and I think
he's in one last game at most. Dunno if he's still on
the boards.

I believe the article you are asking about is "Going
for the Jugular"
by Jeremy Richman in Bree 9. Jeremy if you are reading
this have you
tried it since you wrote your article, if so was there
any drop off
in its effectiveness?

Having looked back and read the article you chaps are discussing, I see that he makes "knocking out the Witch King" look quite straightforward. Perhaps he finds the whole game too easy. Heh, heh.
The article makes good reading for prospective WK players too...a
kind of "how to avoid getting the WK knocked out"! Now i must pass it
along to my team-mates...
Well even though the destruction of the WK capital early on REALLY hurts
WK, it does not neccessary mean the end of WK. In one game (game 80) I
lost the WK capital on turn 4 (by a nasty and well planned surprise attack
by Arthedain who destroyed my capital), but through good allied support I
mannaged to survive with a combination of blocking maneuvres, LOTS of
dragons, agents and massive fundings. My capital 1804 was the only major
center I lost as WK (besides 2305 which was taken back) in this game, even
though the Cardolan and Arthedain players were quite skilled after my
opinion, and we eventually won the game.
A skilled WK player will upgrade 1804 to City instantly and gather his
starting armies meaning that he should defeat the combined Arthe army in
open combat. Arthedain will therefor not be able to threaten anything when
he first has batteled the WK starting troops. So in my eyes knocking out
WK's capital by turn 3-4, takes a really poor playing WK player or an
exceptinally skilled/lucky Arthedain and Cardolan player.
