SV: Re: The Shadow turn discussion

Well, now that it is known that Harley will share pdfs without the knowledge or pre-permission of the players, I guess Harley will assume one more administrative burden and keep a list of persons who don't want this done. Perhaps along the lines of the players who opt out of the Player Rating System.

My belief is that Harley's GMs are a little to intrusive into these games. Enevitably awkward questions may arise. Example: If a game was delayed running so that Brad could submit orders after the deadline, was this done because he was a good customer who is in at least four games at once? Or, why wasn't this done in game XYZ when D.G. got special serviced? Etc, etc.

PDF sharing:

As I read it, currently it works like this: PDFs are shared between
teammates by Clint if a teammate asks for it (and dont abuse it).
Furthermore a player can specificly ask Clint not to share his PDFs to
teammates in a game.

Now, where is the problem?

If all this talk is all about what should be the default method, my vote
goes to sharing between teammates unless specificed otherwise by the
player - as the system works now.

Shadow turn:

A player not doing his turn is much more destructive to the game and one
special service turn can ruin the entire game if the turn was important
enough. I dont see any issues with having this opion ON by default as well.
There can be a lot of reasons a player doesnt make his turn, and I dont see
why this game should be the most important thing of a persons life. So if
one player chooses do something else, I think its ok that the rest of his
team can at least do a shadowturn to save their game untill they can find a
replacement or something. If the player is intent on doing Nothing, he could
just send in his orders where he does nothing - shadoworders only works if
the player doesnt send in anything.

Clint's come out to explain (and the sheer necessity of having
to explain this boggles me..) that they do NOT magically do all
games at exactly 10am every day [snap snap!] Now, they start
working on the pile and keep on going until that day's pile is
gone. They simply start with those games that have all their
orders in and keep on working through them until that last game
is done - too late, just in time, what have you. Gee, kind of
makes sense, eh?

I've had turns "delayed" much longer beyond their "regular" hour
relatively often, and I only "suspect" the single time was as a
result of MY orders being late. So I've waited for many others
many more times than anyone has ever waited for me, I can assure
you, "good" customer or no.

RD: I don't agree that Harle should share pdfs "without the knowledge or pre-permission of players." Any team I am on, I encourage sharing pdfs because pdfs provides info that players forget to send in a message, and it encourages mutual trust.

Nontheless if an active player does not want to circulate his pdf, that is his prerogative (altho his team-mates will draw their own conclusions).

I only ask for another player's pdf without his permission if I think that player has dropped. If he hasn't dropped, Harle will tell me; if he -has- dropped, everybody (except the opposing team) wins by me taking the position over as swiftly as may be.
