Anyone able to confirm this or know anything more about this?
Is it possible to set the priority on the auto-ack? As I
understand the
principles, setting the priority to 'Highest' ensures that
the email takes
the shortest/fastest route to its destination. Ditto for
turn submission -
I ALWAYS set the priority for my turn to the highest
setting, ensuring the
mail servers/routers/bridges/nodes, pass the message along
the fastest route.
I asked a sys admin friend about this. He felt that it only made
a difference if the router concerned was heavily loaded. I can
ask him for a more detailed explanation if you want one.
You can easily check whether it makes a difference to Harlequin
by sending three identical messages to this list, setting
the priority differently on each. Send them around 6PM - 8PM UK
time to use the network at its busiest. Then watch when they
turn up. Ask a US player to do the same. (You'd be amazed where
some messages go during their travels!)
I know from my own experience that mail to and from Yahoo
and Hotmail can take an inordinate while. Hotmail has also lost
more than one message to/from me.
