The horn of Gondor...

Actually, it was mentioned when Boromir talked of returning home and hearing
the Horn of Gondor blow as he would approach the great white city. He asked
Aragorn if he had ever seen Gondor and Aragorn replied that, yes, he had
been there and it was truly beautiful.

So the Horn of Gondor was mentioned. Also, I think Aragorn, the rightful
king and heir, would know of this horn even without the movie audience
knowing about it, even if it hadn't been. Let's face it, Boromir is pretty
hacked off at the thought of Aragorn being of the line of Isildur and taking
the thrown from his father the current Steward of Gondor.

RD: the changes you are talking about apply to any pop in the game. As you
say, it's something we have to live with.

All I was doing was justifying the case for Imladris starting out as a MT.
Certainly elf numbers were dwindling but Imladris was still a refuge for FP
of all races from a wide area. It must have had at least a modest standing
army - as it does in the game - or it would be quickly swamped by the orcs
who swarmed in the nearby Misty mts not to mention evil Men. Imladris may
have been magically or geographically "hidden" but Sauron knew exactly where
it was - he had besieged it once!
