I have to share Thomas' sentiments. People give up too early I find.
At the risk of sounding slightly hypocritical, I agree - in general
terms. t dependson what basis you've joined a game. In team
games I will
often drop when the rst of the team decides to give up. Partly
this is a
result of unofficial gentlemen's agreements at the beginning
of the game
that one team will not seek to prolong a game beyond the point where
there is a concensus view that one team has won.On the other hand, in more individual games, I'm all in favour of
fighting to the death. For instance I was persuaded to take over a Long
Rider possition in a 2950 game some while back. I was apalled, it had a
mere 1 major town and nothing else! With a minimum of support from my
allies, I now have a viable (if tiny) position. It's actually a great
deal of fun.
i've played positions like that. Once I played a nation with 5 characters
(and none were commanders - sob) for about 15-20 odd turns (I had a good map
and my double rank scouting was very useful). I had to wait ages for a
person to drop before I could get a commander to change my tax.
I was only disappointed that I was paying the same amount as people with 21
characters, and over three pages of pop centres.
I would have liked another charge for running crippled nations. But such is
life.
thanks

p.s. did a hear right about England winning a cricket test match ? Miracles
do happen.
