Transport Capacity

I’ve not got much experience with navies, so perhaps someone could assist me? I know that a transport can carry upto 150 cavalry or 250 infantry. But can these be mixed? What if I have only 1 transport - does this mean that I could have 100 LC and 100 MA, so that I could make sure the enemy could see a cav icon (once it is split off as an army) and only pay for cheap MA to bring the ships back to harbour?

Cheers for any help,

JK

That’s a good question… I’d have to assume you’d need 2 ships, 1 for the cav and 1 for the ma. EVEN if they tried to share a ship, 100/150 cav means you have space for 50 cav, which is 1/3 the carrying capacity, which is the same as 83 foot soldiers, so even if they were able to mix the trooops on the boats, your 100+100 is still too much for 1 poor (highly modified) ship to carry.

You can definitely mix foot/horse in a transport navy. Each cav trooper takes up 1/150th of the capacity of a ship; each footslogger 1/250th. It’s not higher math, but a calcualtor does come in handy…

This means that the 100 LC contribute a 100/150 amount, plus the 100 MA which contribute a 100/250 amount. Unfortunately for us, that is greater than 1 ship.

100/150 + 100/250 = 1.0667

However, try it sometime - you may be surprised at which Nations stink at math.
