I was just wondering how much interest in this there would be out there.
What if it were held in kansas city? An extremely central location and fairly cheap to fly\drive to…even from overseas.
How much does 1 day of participation in a face to face cost usually? (ignoring any additional cost of it being in the US which is another issue)
Please comment on interest that you think might be out there for people that do not frequent the forum but would be interested in attending if one were to be held.
I can think of 3 people including myself that would do a F2F in KC in a heartbeat.
St. Louis is also a good choice,…but I don’t know what you mean by “convenient convention” if you mean a place to hold a F2F any major city would have that and there are tons of hotels within 5minutes of the KC airport that could easily accomodate one of these.
I’ve put forward what we can do at present in the other FTF report (on this forum). In short we can’t do a full 12v12 at present in the states (we have to run the game in the UK) UNLESS we can get all 24 players (or some doubling up) together in one place.
I’ve suggested a UK vs US game (one team in the office, one in the States) but I’ve not had any feedback about that (clearly the time difference would be a problem). A full US 12v12 would be excellent though!
Location is important - we need a place for people to sleep on floors (for cheapness) and local inexpensive accomodation for those who prefer a bed…
We need a local co-ordinator to help out. We need a place to have the event - ideally big enough for 3 rooms plus kitchen.
We need upto 24 players… Ideally I suggest 1650 12v12 (we’ve never done a non-1650 game as I feel that 1650 is the best of the 3 for this format).
We get around 14-16 turns in for the 2 -3 days we do it in the UK. The game would be run in the UK (GM there to process and send the turns to the States) which should be doable.
Bunch of computers and a couple of printers (we can bring some but they would not be easy to transport efficiently).
It’s upto you guys to get enough players interested really. An event at something like Gencon could be the place but then you’re spending money and won’t have much time to actually do any Gencon things so I’d probably advise something smaller (ie cheaper). Cost - is fixed for the w/end. It would probably need at least one GM to help out - 2 would be better but that costs us to come to you and guess who pays for that… ? What that cost would be I don’t know - £75 for the guys for the w/end but then costs for running one in the states would be higher.
Chat and see if you can come up with something. I’ve got a list of people who might be interested but see the above. Generally the hardest thing to do is get a fixed location that US guys are happy to travel to.
Depending on the weekend, I am pretty much willing to play a face to face just about anywhere. coming out of Denver so pretty much nothing is a cheap flight. If I play, that shames my brother into playing also.
I think our last go at this was to hold one in Chicago, but I would do either KC, St Louis or New Orleans (Baton rouge is where Tony lives and he has lots of floor space).
A US Face to Face has surfaced and failed at least 2 other times, I suspect my memory is suspect and it’s really 3. Now, if you ever want to come to Toronto, I can guarantee 2 players - we’ll play 12 each…
