US FTF

We do have passenger rail, but it is very poor. I've looked into travelling from Colorado (1500 miles to CA, 3500 miles to East Coast) by rail. It would take 2 days to get to CA, and cost just as much as a cheap airplane ticket.

Am I right in thinking that the US doesn't really have much in the way
of passenger train (railroad) transport? Not that ours is brilliant,
but it's often the best way of travelling long distances without
paying the sort of fares airlines charge.
