Below is an example turn for the Dark Servants in a Middleearth game.
The orders for ALL the nations on the Dark servant side have been pulled into the program so the team Captain can see what is going on.
Black arrows show character movement.
Green arrows show product transfers.
Red arrows show army moves with terrain costs at each step displayed.
FP Armies are shown as palantir icons and DS Armies as eye of Sauron icons in the south of a hex
Characters are shown as square icons in the NW of a hex.
Clicking on the Economy tab would show the economies of each nation, whereas Team Economy shows how all the nations are doing together as a unit.
If you are not using JOverseer and want help getting it going, feel free to ask me!
Dean your screen is quite confusing, i like much JO but i just draw the orders i really need to see and then i remove the visualization that works much better in my point of view.
I understand, I do too, this is just an exercise in showing just how much it CAN show. Its the complexity of what’s going on that is is meant to be impressive.
Do you use it to actually import the ORDERS of your TEAM like this, to see what your whole side if up to! This is not just ONE person’s turn!
I don’t. Though I do import my orders to see how they’re interpreted. It sometimes does miss orders for individual characters on import though. Order Checker is excellent for catching mistakes before they go out.
JO is an awesome program though that really keeps track of the battlefield and helps you visualize the overall strategic makeup of the game board.
Way better than when we used to do it with paper maps and little colored stickers. Though I do miss my paper map…
Yes it is quite awesome, what some people may not realise is that it stores EVERY turn’s map data and orders. You can dial back the map/info/orders however many turns you like to see what the state of play was, which assassin was at your capital last turn etc…
Filter the complete orders list by the options presented, and then draw. Then undraw and repeat. Really good for E>30, for example - manage your team camping to make sure players don’t hit the same hex, watch your agents moving, etc. Toggle the Draw Names on Orders in the Map Options to better visualize your ally’s reports and planning verbiage… Once you get into the habit, like driving a car over riding a bike…you’ll wonder how you justified spending $xx without it…
All the games I`ve been on the losing side of in the last X years are characterized by and larger than usual # of players NOT sending orders or sending hand written orders that didn’t load into JO. Coincidence…? Bad intel = bad decisions. Momentum lost = game lost. Get with it, or…
Dean, maybe u could help me every time I open up this great program other boxes form open and the screen messes up, its like the program has a mind of its own any help you could provide me would help me greatly?
