Ever played Brittannia the board game? Not bad but a bit
dated and long to
play now. Quite fun and you get to do some weird things
with history.
yeah. But unless you had the correct number of players, ie all your nations
were the same colour, then it wasn't the most balanced to play.
Red was easy to win (saxons normally racked in the points). Purple was fun
(as you had the romans who could only be killed if the enemy rolled a 6 on
a
d6), but rarely won (not enough nations bringing in the points - I think
purple normally come last). Blue had the normans, but often couldn't catch
up on the reds. Green was the most boring side as they got points for
sitting still and not getting beaten up (ie welsh). The greens had the
danes
for some excitment in the mid-game. Winning as the greens was the hardest
I've done (it was all 'please ignore me, and I won't move out and attack
saxons)'. The march on York was also funny (we normally move aside and let
the welsh out just for a laugh - and them stomp on them after they get the
points).
I remember one game (not sure who did it), but the romans were killed on
the
beaches (LOTS of 6's rolled). And the blue nation (forget who they were)
that normally get killed by the romans ran out of pieces as they thrived on
the lowland (and not in the swamps as they normally do). The saxon invasion
was defeated, and not a saxon was left when the normans came in.
