Weird due dates

Can players inform me if they have been receiving weird due dates on their
turns - ie ones that don't make sense. (Game and nation would help -
privately if need be). I think there might be a small problem with the 2950
print routine but could do with checking.

Thanks

Clint

That's what you get when you deal with WinBlows. Maybe with Stuart around you guys might consider switching back to a mac-based system. When I got my first Harlequin pdf, besides the obvious strange fonts used on the title page plus the special characters being gone from character names, there was an overall rough look to the pdf.

I sat there comparing the two for 20 minutes... then accidentally discovered in the INFO section that it was created by Windows Adobe Distiller. "AAgh," I said to myself, "I have discovered the problem!!" Sorry, we Mac users are used to a nice, crisp interface at the least... we can spot an imposter or lack-of-style but quick.

Frankly, I AM kind of tired of the special characters problem. I rather like seeing "Mûrazôr" compared to "M raz r".

As for the due date problem... the date generated seems an offshoot of the account number. It happened in G111 and, whenever THAT game ever processes again (GROAN!), we'll see if it occurs again.

I think that is because we compiled a quicky version of the print routine
and did not check everything. In the UK it is quite hard to use Macs (PCs
are king so to speak) - very hard to get the appropriate hard-ware and
software. Quick comparison : Floppy drive broke on both: Mac cost 60-70
to fix, PC 10.

Unfortunately we cannot get the fonts for the game - if there was a
substitute font for the PC then that would sort out the special character
problem as well.

The due date might also be because we truncated the due date - sometimes
that does squiffy things.

Game 111 is moved a day on now I think - due to the high proportion of
postal players Ifelt it best to give it time for RayTech to be able to send
in turns that they receive on the w/end.

Thanks

Clint

I'd spotted that too, but didn't want to rub it in. After all, if they're
using Windoze, they've got enough problems already...

What a load of crock, Clint! This sort of misinformation drives me nuts.
Mail me privately if you want further advice/info.

Yeah... when one deals with monopoly hardware like pre-1997 macs it does certainly get tough. But then again, I had to pay £200 to fix the keyboard on my pc Thinkpad! OUCH.... but I suggest eBay for parts and you just have to hunt more for parts on older macs. Happily the new stuff, cube aside, is much more industry standard. And by the way, are you guys STILL using floppy disks? ZIP ZIP ZIP people! Superdisk isn't bad either...

Sadly, Apple is infamous about treating the Isles poorly. I can't blame anyone there for snubbing Apple... Stevie must not like you guys. But the fact is that you will have to spend an equal or greater bit of money on software now to make the fonts for the PC so you can start printing MEPBM correctly. It's sad to see parts of the output nicely formatted then some glaring fonts like what's in you intro title. "Yeesh" is what comes to mind... and let's be honest and say "clean, drool-inducing graphics compared to other PBMs" is a hallmark of MEPBM. For Tolkein, image is important.

Eh... tweakings take time... I'm well aware of such things. But it'd be nice to know you guys won't leave it to divine intervention to fix such things.

Ah... cripes. The jailbirds strike again! When will they have faxes in the US prisons? That way they could moniter they're communication, like they already do, AND the jailbirds could have a little way in modern convenience!

Any idea what the font name(s) required is/are? They may be shareware or PD
version around, even for Windoze.
