Whats in a name?

Getting a bonus with Tolkeinish names sounds like it's
worth a couple of agents!

Prefer to name characters after family members, and
pcs after all the different places I lived in. Nice
to see the brother stabbing someone else in that back,
and the wife trying to influence somebody else for a
change.......

Can't imagine Gavin and Lillian creating Oakville
and Dartmouth bothering too many ultra-traditionalists
any more than some of the names I've played with. In
fact, had a "teammate" with such disturbing character
names that I seriously thought him to be a threat to
Real Earth society.....

Neither can I.

Gavin
PS Who's Lillian?

hmmm

In 306 I used the cartoon names (moose/squirrel/borris badinuff,
natasha)

I've recently slowed down on that as it's free intel to the enemy...
instead I like to use the default names more. I've heard that they
differentiate the names from DS to freep and if that's true, using
the defaults for the other side would be a solid trick

and I got plenty of bonuses with cartoon names...
can't you picture ME characters getting nicknames like moose and
squirrel anyway? lack of imagination?

but yeah, I try and stay away from theme names, and will guess at
enemy themes and copy them too...

I should have put a  on the end of my first message. I
thought moose and squirrel was pretty funny. I also thought the
different variations of birhan a good idea. It made it difficult for
our side to track agents. I went for the robot theme in that game
with Mr Roboto, Unit 8675309, and Thx-ElevenThirty8.

It's free intel but it makes the game interesting. I think I'll
stick with random names for my agents and maybe give my commanders
and mages the theme names for now on just to spice things up. I saw
one nation in a 4th age game name his characters Monica, Bill Clinton
and Janet Reno. Guess what happened to them.

One thing I like to do is name new characters after dead enemy
characters. Really pisses the Cloud Lord off when there's a Ji-Indur
running around killing his characters. Normally I stick with Black
Company character names...if anyone has read these books..

Whoever played the Dwarves and named their characters after Snow
White...now, that's pure genius!
