Meanwhile...why do allies have allied char's as
VC's anyway?

Baranor, Baranishnikov, Baranhisbestfriend.....
One way to annoy the DS is to name your chars after one that's been
killed, like Imrahil, Imrahil's avenger, Imrahil's son (or Imrahil
II), Imrahil's grandson (or Imrahil III)----->Imrahil's last cousine!
And regarding using your wife's name, I once accidentally used a team
mates's girlfriends name! He he... Imagine that Niels Just, your
girlfriend and a bunch of agents with no morals whatsoever camping in
the wilderness! 
I've at least managed to keep her alive for about
35 turns...
