1) Just to be sure, you can play 2 nations, yes? Thus you don't
need 12 players at all times (ie, 6 is fine..)
*** Not correct. It's one nation per player. Some opposing teams allow you to double up but by no means is this generic.
2) Presuming if a Team Canada was up and available, we'd simply
slip right into the current group/tournament and be added to the
current listings?
*** Sort of. I am thinking about the format at present. I'll get back to you with a plan when we're closer to it. Something more of a challenge and points gain with victories tallying up, and winners each year. Or a knock-out (double elimination that sort of thing). Something to speed the entire format up. Any ideas?
With so many teams it would not be possible to play each teams twice - 2 US, 1 German, 1 Scan, 2 UK, 1 Aus, 1 Braz, 1 Can (have I missed any?) (16 matches - ie around 12 years!) Having a long term game is fine - but this might be too long...
If the games were one week it would help but still not enough.
