For those who need information on the format:
Who is playing?
So far I have teams from the US, UK (x2 maybe 3), Germany, Scandanavia, the
Best of the Rest (an almagam of lots of players from all over the world).
I have interest from Brazil, Australia and Spain, but as yet no teams. I
have not heard back from Italy yet.
What are the rules?
Two teams of 12 pit themselves against each other in a pre-aligned Neutral
1650 game. Turnaround is two weekly. The Corsairs and the Dunlendings are
allied to Good, and the Harad and Rhudaur are allied to Evil. The game
lasts a maximum of 52 turns. Points are awarded as follows:
1 point for each nation the winning team has above that of the losing team.
Generally this will mean that the number of players you have in the team
left after you have wiped out the opposition is the number of points you
have. If the game goes the duration the team with the larger number of
nations is considered the winner and points allocated accordingly. In this
situation only the losing team is considered to lost 2 points (minimum
zero). Any team which achieves a One Ring victory gets an additional five
points.
Otherwise it is a standard 1650 game.
What about the Easterlings?
They are removed from the game. All their characters are nobly executed,
and their Pop Centres reduced to rubble, their fortifications removed as
well. The Artifacts Usriev and Horse Slayer are randomly dropped in the
area of the Easterlings' old capital location.
Neutral players ruling:
To start with the Neutrals start off as Neutral with a 100 Commander. This
character MUST do the following orders:
740 Retire character.
175 Change Allegiance Good or Evil as appropriate for their team.
This will enable the Neutrals to do the appropriate adventures as if the
were the correct alignment. Anyone found using such a character (named
leada, leadb, leadc, leadd as appropriate) for ANY other orders will be
removed from the game and their position made inactive.
How do the points work to see who is the World Champion?
Each team will play the FP and DS side against each team in the league. To
start with unless any team expresses a strong preference the teams will be
allocated randomly to start with. The Scanadavian (FP) vs the Germans (DS)
is presently under way.
My, that will take forever. I can't commit to that, can I?
Don't worry - as long as each team is roughly the same (ie from the US,
Scandanvia etc) then players can swop, drop out, re-join as appropriate. If
you just want to test yourself against one team that is fine as well. The
idea is to check out which team is the best - but for everyone to have a go
at the pie if possible.
What do I do now?
Get in touch with Harlequin Games. We are presently taking players for this
and our other games. If you have a team or individual players it is useful
if you can get a team captain organised to chat to us so that things are
dealt with quickly. If you are the team captain please send us a list of
the players, including the email details (I guess most of you will be
playing by email), start-up fee (we take Visa, direct payment into our
account - please ask for details, Mastercard and IMOs amongst others) and
names.

playing them.
