Hi,
Okay so does my idea work? Basically if you win then you get 3 pts, and it
is only relevant for the opposing team for the one point aspect (or 1/2 pt).
I don't think it will really matter if it is 1/2 or 1 pt (as in for a draw)
in the long run and that this is a minor point.
The ball is in the US team court. We set out our opinions and proposed
some compromises that we don't like 100% but are willing to go along
with.
If the US team is unwilling to enter into a discussion which leads to a
compromise, then we have a problem.
A major factor in our discussions as to whether to offer surrender, was
that we were going to play the US team again. The rules of the
competition at that time clearly stated that each team would play each
other twice. Had the rules stated that this was the one and only time we
would be playing the US team, then we would not have surrendered.
We object rather strongly to having to live by a decision that was taken
prior to a total change of the rules and structure of the competition.
Surely you wouldn't expect any other sporting competition to live with
changes in the rules part way into a game?
Colin.
