World Pay

Quick reminder - it can take a little while for funds to clear using World
Pay and as we only check ONCE a day (@9am) (and @4pm on a Friday just in
case there are any lurkers). So sending us the receipt that you have had
payment will not release your turn. We will release the turn when we get
the confirmation through ourselves. (We have had a couple of bogus receipts
so like the "cheque is in the post" scenario we now wait until payment comes
through).

I know it's a pain for you guys - sorry about that. It's a pain the other
way for us...

Sending you a copy of the receipt seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Sending you a bogus receipt in order to obtain something is fraud, and you should take action against it - if not legal action you should certainly stop doing business with that person immediately. You should then be able to trust the rest of your players, especially when they are sending probably authentic evidence. Don't distrust the majority just because of the dishonesty of a couple.

We have lots of cheques in the post, or guarantees payment later on -
basically it's cost a few sheckles to do this - a real pain.

A cheque in the post is something that happens, especially as you apply a surcharge for those who pay by credit card on line. A "cheque in the post, honest Guv..." is a lie, but it is often an accepted euphemism by which weak people can promise to pay soon. Promising to pay soon is just that, as valid as the past promises of the individual concerned. All three are far removed from sending you a bogus receipt, which is fraud, and for which you could, if you wished, take someone to a court of law.

The answer to the first three, is to keep a record on the account of how many times a customer has let you down. As a long standing customer, who's only ever gone into the red once or twice, I would not be impressed if you were to cold shoulder me, if I should make a late payment, after all, you have held large to small amounts of my money in your bank account for 99% of the time over the last 8 years. I'd expect you to treat a customer who goes into the red frequently, or by large amounts, rather differently.

Keeping careful records may "cost you a few sheckles", but appearing to be inflexible and turning off customers, could cost you much more.

We do - we hold back that turn immediately it goes low funds now.

I understand that's why we allow players a once off low funds situation.
More than that we found encourages the odd 1% to leave with a bigger debt.
