Actually Matt, I think you’re following me.
Okay I am trying to get this game going. It’s the game with the variant rules as designed by Richard Devereux. It’s played a few games now and seems fine. If you are interested in this then please get back to me with a list of nations.
I have 8 nations filled at present. If I have not contacted you then I NEED you to contact me and give me a list.
It might be a 12v12 game but I am not sure yet; it could also be an upto 2 nation game as well. When I get closer to filling the game I’ll be in touch with the interested parties and see if we can organise something. The bad news is to cover costs there is an additional set-up fee of £10 per nation. Other than that normal costs. (About 10p extra a turn for the estimated duration of the game - sorry we have to cover our costs and that’s what it costs us to set it up).
Excellent fun for those players a bit jaded by playing normal games.
War of the Ring Variant 2950 Game 223 - the changes
Here is the full list of Population Centres and changes in the War of the Ring variant game of 2950.
In addition the DS have the following extra armies:
Dog Lord + 500 HC @3221
Drgon Lord + 1000 HI @ 2715
WK (in the North)+ 1000 HI @ 2305

Here are the changes to transform 2950 into War of the Ring. Most are pop
changes. Fortifications, ports/harbours, ‘hidden’, all stay as in 2950,
regardless of changes to the pop, UNLESS otherwise stated.
Example: 2950 has the pop at 6360 as village/fort/harbour. If I ask 6360 to
be changed to a MT, the fort/harbour remain unless otherwise specified.
All DS to receive an extra 15k gold in their starting treasuries.

Reason: at the Battle of 5 armies Beorn fought his way thru the entire
goblin host to kill the ‘Great Goblin’ Bolg, so must have greater challenge
rank than Bolg. Previously Beorn had supplied Thorin and company with food
and mounts, pretty remarkable when nobody else was around, hence the
Conjuring artifact.
EITHER Beoraborn or Waulfa should have his mage rank increased to 40.
Beorn must have an apprentice to pass the Conjuring artifact to!

I’ve also talked to old friends from other games and asked them to consider joining…the setup fee is scaring some customers away though…just too high with them playing other games…
Sorry we have to do it as it’s a lot of work for us - massive database changes, 100s of emails, checking, re-checking, dealing with the results of the set-up going wrong (it will) etc.
If we underprice it then we’ll get a lot wanting it but then not have any time to actually run our more profitable games - ie we lose money.

so folks…sign right up and take the plunge…2950 and 1650 merge into a single entity for this one game, and the cost…why one thin dime…one tenth of a dolla…yeah right…pay up and play…

What Neutral is dropped in a 12 vs. 12? Are they assigned randomly, geographically, what?
indeed my hammer knows no limit to reach. 4th Age game looks interesting…btw.
on to business…I prefer a straight 10 v 10 with the neuts able to be swayed by the teams. never know who the neuts are or what they will do…adds to the flava if ya know what ah mean.
my vote will be to have the normal setup…10 v 10 and 5 neuts to suade…

That depends on the players. With 1650 it’s easy - 2950 I generally advise the Rhun are removed leaving Corsair, Dun,WW, Khand.
I can rule it easily enough - Cors DS, Dun FP, WW FP, Khad DS. But if there is a different opinion on how it would split get back to me. Note this doesn’t mean it won’t be a normal game but just a suggestion. When we get nearer to 25 then I can chat in depth.
