I have edited xml's as far as changing army sizes, adding a commander name, and adding characters in that our alliance has doubled. You just have to make sure that you do not add any carriage returns or change any of the labels that the file has. I normally use an editor called Homesite, becuase it is for internet files. I have used explorer also.
