Yahoogroups

Hi,

Our PBM groups are run by Yahoo. This is firstly because they allow a decent
functionality for no cost, and also because they took over egroups and
onelist.

We don't particularly like or endorse Yahoo, but we can keep costs slightly
down by using their service.

They are running a survey to decide whether to start charging for
Yahoogroups.

You might like to visit this site and answer - its about 5 minutes of dull
clicking.

If, or more likely, when they start charging, we will take a good look at
what is best for these groups. Many of you refuse to use the web based
functionality of Yahoogroups, based on a dislike of Yahoo, we would also
take that into consideration if we opted for a pay to use scheme.

If anyone has any views on the provider we should use for this group, please
make them heard. (Please don't forget to snip out the bulk of this email)

For those of you who haven't seen the survey, Yahoo is proposing a two-tier system, whereby paying gets you more file storage, more message archiving space, and generally a few perks. This doesn't seem to effect the game-specific lists at all.

Personally, I like the web features of YG, mostly the message archive (it's fairly easy to search). If the price is reasonable, I think Harly should consider paying for the upgraded service. We've been using this for several years now, and I don't think its unreasonable to give some back.
