1-on-1 Game 60

Hold your horses, Dragons are coming–Soon (like this coming turn).

:frowning: News from the DS,

Dire Straits, yes, that’s the phrase we’ll use now–or, how about, Backs Up Against the Wall, that’s it, Backs Up Against the Wall. That mistake at Minas Ithil and my reacting late in the NW has put me in this predicument (also good play by you, but I don’t want to compliment you just yet, you might get over confident and make a mistake). But, all is not lost, dragons are being recruited as we speak and I’m finally getting the agents going. I had this great plan for getting artifacts distributed and was working on it when the ceiling came crashing in with your blitzkreig. Well, it will have to be a massive agent thingy for the DS for awhile, and when the dust clears, it will probably still be a Free victory, but hopefully, the blood bath of Free characters will make Middle Earth the new “Red Planet”.:stuck_out_tongue:

Scott,

Yes, the Minas Ithil mistake hurt but I did also make a mistake and not get me NG force to Osgiliath from the South, which allowed you to take that. But all in all your mistake was a little bigger. I am working on my detail report on turn 5 now for everyones enjoyment (but yours :-)).

John

Scott,

Turn 5 results detail:

Very happy with overall results other than seeing you having (or had) 5 (dragon) encounters in the Mts. That means some tough fighting where those dragons are headed.

  1. Arty Results: Got out of hex with #1 and #15! See you now have #44 but not yet out of hex…… The rest of the artys we/you have to get or get out of hex. I forgot to move to one of the arty hexes this turn %$&#. Oh well, that is how it goes.

  2. Market: Looks good! LE, BR, ST, FO all at 1 with TI=2, MO=3 and MI=32. Hope I can hold this here as I know last game it caused me a lot of issues.

  3. Agents: Starting to see the Evils come to life a little. Lost my NG Regent at DrkL capital but nothing else except a lot of gold stealing. But my guess is I will lose a few more this turn than last.

  4. Dragons: Hope the 5 Mt encounters are only 1 or 2 recruit able ones for the same kingdom. Have to figure out how to counter this or limit the damage your dragon armies due to mine.

  5. NW/Rhu Area:
–Very happy with this area now.
–All Rhu pops but capital will fall this turn unless you have Dragon in one of those armies but I do not think you do.
–WK: Took first town, 1907, of WK with threat. Will take village/t 1906.
–WK moved up on DW T/F with his 2600 troops vs my 1500 force. Wonder if you can take it? Either way, this should knock down your force a lot.
–Happy with this area but long way to still go. Original T-1 plan was to hit WK and leave Rhu alone but that changed as the game went on and Rhu was exposed.
----Summary: Very happy with area as long as dragons do not ruin the day.

  6. Mirkwood:
–Goblin Gate fell to WM and SE.
–attacked DrgL capital with small force and I think it siege. Getting costly at 10k a char shot but think it is worth it. Wonder if I knocked out the DrgL?
–Evils hired army at 2809, I assume this is DrgL so he is not out….
–DogL cav at 3116 had a 3rd backup commanders as I kidnap his second commander and this cav force moved to 3316 so that is toast. Now how to track down this cav force.
----Summary: Happy with Mirkwood area as I have lost nothing yet and no real threat in area.

  7. Rhun Area:
–LR will take 2 towns this turn at 4015 and 4415. How to counter this navy and cav force have to figure out.
–BS force still no where to be seen, so costing you a ton.
----Summary: Depending on agents in this area and BS force I am ok with this area at this point in the game.

  8. Mordor:

8a. Mordor Backdoor:
–EO was able to burn down DrgL’s backup capital at 3822. Now the force can die as it has done it’s job! No other threat I have for evils in area.

8b. Mordor’s inside:
–Made it to FK’s backup capital with EO cav so that should burn this turn. Now where to move this force???
–NG/SG forces on DrkL’s capital so that might fall unless he has a dragon in his army of IK or DrgL. Hope not.

8c. Mordor Ithil Pass:
–Goods own and a few army icons can be seen!

8d. Mordor’s North Gate:
–DW’s took out DogL capital army but moved up to CL’s Camp/F and ran into IK small army. So will take pop and move on.
–Duns moved cav force from 3120 up to IK capital to take out recruiting army of IK
–NG moved army on 3022 to burn camp and start to deal with IK recruiting at Town at 3123 or should I move to a pass or up to IK capital. Wonder if I have the troops for taking one of these North Pass pops???

----Mordor Summary: Love the way it looks right now as this will keep your agents and armies very busy for the next few turns.

  1. Harad Area:
–North Harad has 1 MT left as LR/CL took all Harad’s pops but Harad’s King finally happy to see NG send in a navy to North Harad to help protect its last MT up there. Hope I can win this battle……….
–South Harad starting to look in danger with 2 QA armies advancing off recruiting centers and Corsairs look to be taking 2535 this turn. Corsairs few armies ran into 4 of harad’s armies at 2635 town so looks like Harad will remove that threat.
----Summary: Looks like I am going to start to lose a few pops down here over the next few turns. Now if I could only get some more help for the Gondors down here……but maybe they are already in place but not showing evils yet…or maybe headed back to Mordor….I hope not says the Harad King!

Game Summary: Liking where the game is headed so far. The next 3 turns will determine if the it will be a long battle are a quick win for the goods I would think

John, King of the Goods

Everyone that was enjoying this thread wanted to let you know that due to a very understandable situation with Scott this game has to end.
