1650 Gunboat no-quit game needs one player

Gunboat game 94

Here’s where we stand on the 1650 “by-invitation NO QUIT” GB. Game to start as soon as I get the 3 nation list in (NOT September). Please send in your (minimum) 3 duos of nations asap. There’s a small chance that some of the non-confirmed aren’t able to play so I’ll continue to look for one extra player just in case. So if you are interested then get in touch with your 3 nation pairings that you’d like to play (or if you want to ally with someone there’s a couple of players looking for a potential ally).

Pairings:
DS WK/DkL (1804 city)
Rhu/LR (1910 city/castle; 1908 fort; 2208 MT/fort)
FK/CL
Cor/DrgL
IK/QA
DogL/BS

FP NG/Duns
Northmen/DW (4217 fort)
Arth/Wood
Noldo/Harad
Sinda/Card
SG/EO

Rules - please read - this is what you are signing up for.
Drop Outs:
This is a no-drop game. Players agree to play until end-game conditions are met. Post game, each player’s nation positions will be published.

Communication:
No Diplos, emails or communications of ANY kind between the 12 positions relative to the game at all. No taunting. No BBS posting. No nothing. Discussions with people outside the game is prohibited with respect to revealing game details. It is of course permissible to ask rules questions.

Player teams:
a 2-person player team can work together as a nation pair as normal. But, these player teams can NOT talk to others.

Doubling:
Doubling is allowed on any characters.

Combos and Dead Nations:
Every 3 turns (or when we get the chance to update it) ME Games will update the nation combos, Dead nations as well. Inactive nations will, by default, revealed but not specifically mentioned.

End game:
No more often than once per five turns (ie turns 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 etc), a player may request that their team vote to concede. Each surviving nation on the team gets one vote. If 2/3 or more of the surviving nations on the team vote to concede, the game ends. Votes are confidential (including which player requested the vote) and are solicited by ME Games. A “no-response” is considered to be a vote to continue play. The other team is not informed the vote is taking place unless the vote is successful, at which point all players are notified, the final turn is run, and the game ends.

Additional rules:
If there is at any time there is a greater than 3:1 advantage of surviving nations allegiance vs. allegiance, the game ends automatically.

Other GB rules per standard GB.

Dear Clint,

I thought Dave Holt did this through the players list. I guess you really like this game to start up ASAP

Anyway you can count me in, you will have my nation list shortly…

yours

I assume this is being done on the honor system as well? It seems to me that if a person really wants to drop there isn’t a whole lot you can do about it. Or is there going to be some kind of incentive to stay in game or disincentive/penalty if you drop?

Bernout

this particular game is composed of seasoned players who each make a personal commitment not to quit. As such, it is an honor system. As you can see in the rules above, it will be known at game-end who played what position. As such, if a player drops, then a lot of their fellow players will learn that they dropped from a “no-drop” game. That will be bad karma…

The players wont’ drop. I have confidence in the list of players in the game. (he says with a hopeful look in his eye and his fingers crossed)

All in all, it should be a lot of fun.
Good luck to all

Now filled.

Thanks
Clint

Now how does this gunboat thing work again?

Now what more incentive do you want thatn to be invited into a game considered to be good players, no weak links for a what is expected to be a storming game with a lot of cut and thrust.

Where your measure against the best and to the winner really goes the spoils.

Drop out, only in a coffin.

Vandal

Sounds like fun assuming you were invited of course. I missed the “by invitation” bit when I posted my initial question. If you have a select group of established players I’d imagine it should all go smoothly.

If anyone in the game feels like sharing their position and taking a less experienced player under their wing, I’d love to get involved. PM me please.

Bernout

Poh! I missed the signup by 10 hours. I would really have loved to play in this game against you “old spice”-seasoned gentlemen. Let me know if any of you guys are dropping out  and I will be more than happy to fill your coffin.

Well there is nothing stopping you setting up another invite only group.

I have to say that the amount of players asking me to let them join has been vaste, some only returning to play GB on the basis of the quality of the field, as they want that true test.

There are many a player out there awaiting that invite worthy of a place, awaiting just that call.

Vandal

Well I am all set to go. I set up a yahoo group and everything!
invite-only-gb-94@yahoo.com
join it!

Run another by invite only gunboat game. The winners of the second gunboat invite team gets to play the winner of the first gunboat invite team. If they are the same side, the players can be randomly assigned. If they are won by opposite factions, winning players keep the same faction just swap positions. Sounds like fun to me. (especially if I finish on the winning side).

I would just like to pay up front, say $500?

well it looks like the thing will get started soon, let it be known that I will team up with Martin Cinke for this one. sharing a position will make up for the greatest deficit of GB games (to me), that is the inability to discuss plans, strategies, ideas.
I look forward to an excellent game, please everybody write a short report of every turn that can be published after game end like a journal. that will be fun to read and make game analysis much easier.

BTW CJ what exactly did you set up this yahoogroup for?

cj, Clint

Don’t have the time to read this forum every day so I obviously missed the first group. Count me in for the second group of no-quit gunboat.

Alain

Hi all (expetially bernout and Alain)

See new post on new 1650 no-quit GB game please.

Vandal: Would it be possible for you to reply to the guys that has contacted you regarding the new no-quit game and alert them?

seejaie: Great idea!

Bernh: You should come and play in this game aswell. Still disappointed that I missed the oppotunity to play with or without you in a GB game  Of course all others in game 94 are welcome aswell.

Well you are allowed to talk to your partner if you both run one nation each but yes setting up a yahoo group seems a bit OTT.

But to each their own!

Well I have a feeling a second game looks promising already

Vandal

Well you aren’t invited to the yahoo group anyway! Hmm, well in light of things having begun, I shall now begin my customary 60 week silence before the end of the game. Imagine me in deep thought.

"Well I have a feeling a second game looks promising already

Vandal"

It is Frank - we have around 8 signed up already. Any other interested parties?

Frank also mentioned changes to the set-up - thoughts are welcome on this. I see Gb as a developing game not something that is yet in a final form.
