A smile wound its way to the otherwise grim features of Captain Taurnil of Laurelindórenan.
“Is it good news Captain?”
Taurnil looked over to the youthful face of his herald. He was young, having barely seen a century of life. If times had been different he would millennia under the eaves of Mallorn trees, learning to love and being loved in return. But the times were dark, and Lorien’s need was dire.
“It is,” he replied at last. “News has come that King Ovatha in the East will march against the Dark Lord and his brood. Elrond Half-elven, sends word that the Dwarves and the Noldir have marched into the caves housing the goblins of the Misty Mountains.”
“But what of us Milord, will we prevail?”
Taurnil looked out over the plains near the huddled homesteads of Vidus. In the distance he could see the camp fires of the enemy.
“No, we will not. But we will hold the line nonetheless. We will give our lives and whittle away the orcs until none but a handful remain - too few to trouble our people under the trees. We will sacrifice ourselves so that our human allies have a chance to throw down the walls of Dol Guldur.”
The young herald looked away, a tear in his eye.
Taurnil continued to look at the distant fires of the enemy. Part of him wished that he could afford to shed a tear too. But he could not. He was Sindarin, and a Captain of Lothlorien.
It is obvious you had this as your intention before the game began since you did not even bother to respond to diplomatic overtures. No big deal though, it will just make things more interesting.
I think you misunderstood Banal’s post. All he said was that the Eas never responded to his emails, so it would appear obvious that Eas planned to go Free from the start. Nothing wrong with that, of course. And it certainly makes the game more interesting right off the bat (perhaps not interesting in the way the DS would prefer, but that’s of no matter). I don’t think anyone on the DS “knew” (as opposed to thought it possible) that Eas was going free until his starting armies showed up on LR and BS pops unannounced. Turn 2 is a might early for making such a move unless you were already planning it pretty much from the get-go.
Last I heard nuetral means I can go either way… just becuase 90% of easterlings fear CL agents doesn’t mean I do! come get some! If you even have the ability to downgrade me! :bash:
One thing is for sure! the cookie cutter strategies for 1650 games are out the window with a FP easterlings. Now the only question is which team can better at taking advantage of the uniqueness this game offers both sides!
It seems that we have a very provocative Easterlings player in the game… I’m not sure if you are deliberately trying to stir things up or have misread what the DS are trying to tell you - that they DID send you at least one e-mail. I’m inclined to agree with them that it does appear to be a predetermined call on choosing sides but as you say a neutral can do what they want… It would just be nice to see some honesty.
Anyway, this brings me onto another point. One Turn 1 I located Tinculin at or near 2839. The reason that I’m bringing this into the public domain is because I provided the Harad, Corsairs and Easterlings players this information as it was too far away for me to have any chance of getting there first. As a result of the Easterlings decision to join the FP at this early stage I think it only fair for me to declare this as I’ve basically given the FP information that I haven’t given the DS. I’m assuming that by turn 2 both sides will have cast a LAT on it but like I said I’m trying to be fair.
Hmm, now what did I locate this turn I wonder…
I had an interesting turn considering the rules that I put forward. I opened my turn up to find a camp at 2018 - interesting I thought, somebody obviously doesn’t care about having me on their side… I then discovered in an e-mail from ME that the camp is a mistake and it shouldn’t be there… I’ve thought about this a bit actually, regardless of the fact that it was a mistake by ME, there MUST have been a character there last turn with emissary rank for it even to be possible for a camp to be there. Unless of course the mistake was made the previous turn… The FP would be very foolish to place a camp there so I’m making the assumption that it must have been a DS character. However, I have no proof and it was a mistake so I can’t take any action but to disregard this.
Interesting economy - no apparent attempt of a buyout but spring on the horizon to help out the DS…
Would be nice to see a sitrep from both sides - either on the open forum or by pm/e-mail - don’t expect personal replies though.
Just as a final reminder for all - keep orf my land!!!
Meriot looks around the sandy hills in confusion. “He did say 2839…didn’t he?” His guide shrugs his shoulders. “Don’t ask me. I thought he said ‘Penny Lake Dirty Wine’.”
Meriot stares and blinks as his brain reels from the statement. Rolling his map and muttering “@$%#$% pirates” he begins his march home.
Commander Fuinur has come visiting the Harad at 2833. Diplomatic visits are normally arranged long in advance so I must decide if it is an aggressive move or whether he wishes to transfer warships to me as a sign of goodwill. Of course I could simply ‘destroy the evidence’ and forget it ever happened
A sit rep from the Free would be welcome; there seems little chance that the DS will communicate!!!
Jerry
We are currently preparing a Sit-rep for the neutrals…
Also it is not an aggressive move on the free… I know he tried to put in movement to try and avoid this happening… He will contact you to tell you more.
Sorry If i didn’t recieve them in my regular in box… They may have went to bulkmail then deleted with the 3 to 400 I get everyday…
Needless to say it’s mute now… But at least T declared early even if I landed on same turn… So the scramble is on… Nothing personal but I love a challenge and will enjoy the specail attention I’m sure your team will give me!
Very true about the starting coms… But you gotta love the Easterlings ability to name 40 coms… Of course you could have left your best com’s at your capitol just in case! I somehow doubt your initial strategy had this option in mind though… Which put me at the advantage in dealing with your scrubs agents trying to get easy skill training at my expense…
Interesting so little is being said here… One noteworthy event or lack thereof is DS inability to get kills… I endeavor to keep my Coms out of harms way and watch the DS go bankrupt on nation at a time trying to field armies to catch my Military… So in the character war the DS are losing 1-5 guard orders bode an ominous sign the DS are in serious trouble in this game… So the remaining nuetrals need some truth on How effective the DS are really doing in this area… Mordor is going to Fall becuase of it.
