Does anyone remember this game that GSI used to run in 80’s?
Big time Lost and Found, LOL What bought this out???
Was talking to a friend about PBM games from back in the day, and remembered this game. I thought it was fun, never won a game though.
What nations did u play?
I used to run this game for KJC Games in the UK.
So if anyone played the UK game I most likely input your orders and processed your turns
cheers

Just remember a friend of mine trying really hard to get me into it, LOL I was to busy playing other games such as;
Alamaze with Pegasus Prod., played every nation
Kosumi, the Japenese version of Alamaze, if your nation won you would get a T-Shirt with your nation on it, I have a Dragon, Ninja, and Oni Which maybe Clint might want to look into, I wouldn’t mind having a Ji T-shirt, LOL
You Rule with Lucky Llama, so simple it got so complicated, LOL loved it
And of course the one that got me started Hyborian War, Conan based
And a couple I can’t recall off hand, LOL
Played it and won a few games quite fun at the time and simple to play. Played that and Tribes or Crane as my first play by mail games
I never played Earthwood, but I really enjoyed Conan, LL, and Alamaze (not as much as MEPBM though).
Maybe we were allies, LOL
yeah I got started playing Hyborian war also and something called duelamsters I found out recently that both are still around and still playby mail.
You ever get Conan in your army??? Thought it was cool, still have the map on my wall, but haven’t played since the late 80’s, LOL
Earthwood-Sea kings was my first PBM, actually. Mid/late 80’s snail mail.
My first game I was playing the Forest elves. Got wiped out on turn 4 by the Mammoth Men. Guess you never forget your first time…
a couple of times… But i always used him to get the extra adventure orders in to Make my own advenuring heros… my favorite nation was Kusan! it’s a Blast to eat Large Nations with and have an enire region to yourself!
Also my first experience with pbm. I began in the mid 80’s until this version became obsolete. I really liked it. My favorite position was the Mammoth Men and my first game ever I played the Gnomes. When you’re serving military duty, mail is a blessing and receiving diplo cards back then was like receiving candy in your Christmas stocking. We’re in a much more advanced gaming world now and the excitement about the game is not was it used to be, at least for me.

Does anyone remember which nations you could play in this game? So far I have heard of the Gnomes, Forest Elves and Mammoth Men. I do recall playing the Dark Elves and Barbarian Warrior.
Erik
Not sure if I’m remembering correctly, but here goes.
There were gnomes, halflings, 2 or 3 dwarf races, 2 or 3 elf races, the Giants, the Mammoth Men, 5 human races, and 10 “player character” positions - 5 warriors and 5 wizards.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten something.
I think your right. Do you happen to know who the warrior positions were? Besides the Barbarian Warrior and the High Elven Warrior.
Off the top of my head? No. I may have an old rulebook or something in the back of a closet somewhere. Or, more likely, in an old box stuffed into the corner of my mother’s attic.
A little off-topic: there was another game I played back in the olden days called StarMaster. You had X number of points to design your race, your planet, etc. and then got turned loose on the galaxy. That one was a bit pricey, as the bigger you got, the more orders it took to run things, and the game company billed you by the number of order sheets you used.
Still, I remember having a lot of fun with it.
Looking to get a copy of an Earthwood rulebook. If anyone has one that they are willing to part with please contace me at:
I’ll pay you cash for your copy!
I’ll look through some stuff and see what I can find. It’ll have to wait until the weekend, most likely.
Spent a couple hours on saturday evening rooting around in my closet, and nothing.
Some old Shadowrun stuff, a Paranoia campaign I ran back in the early 90’s (!), a few beat up Dragon magazines from the mid-80’s (!!) and that’s about it. No Earthwood stuff.
I appear to be old, or something. Either that or I’ve got some old guy’s stuff in my closet.
