g80 Clint vs Brad and Wade

Turn 16 results are in. Mirkwood likely to stay that way for a while, multiple Free People MT’s no longer or in the hands of a rampaging…BS?..emissary squad. Corsairs, Woodmen, Sinda, Southern Gondor taken massive character losses.

Of course, there’s that little item of business to take care of at Carn Dum. Mind you, we’re not exactly desperate for capitals either. And, on the assumption we are able to get our character numbers up, we’ll be a wee bit ahead of you there now, won’t we…?

It’s looking like Clint’s banzai military scheme with the DS is bearing fruit. But this game is far from over… In fact, I suspect Emperor Clint has some new tailors in his employ…let’s see what all the fashion fuss is Really about, shall we…?

Brad da Freep

Interesting game - I’m my own worse enemy it appears!

I’ll see if I reduce the Arthedain characters for you this turn as well. Shame I wasn’t there a turn earlier but there you go.

What you going to do about the Fk attack on SG?

Clint (player)

That’s an “attack”…? Um [snicker], er, gee, nothing…yeah yea… [ha ha ha] you got us, okay, we surrender…

[AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!]

freep

Not yet it ain’t but then having the Fk walking over your SG pcs can’t be good can it? 4 turns for the Corsair nation to be out of the south although I do congratulate you on your first assassination of the game - bit of a shock actually!

Note you didn’t mention the 3 capitals lost last turn by you guys. Just in case…

Clint (player)

it was 2… and we’re about to take our 3rd of the game, didn’t want to mention that did you…

b

Thats what I like to see give Clint hell, after all I will have to put up with him telling me I was wrong if you lose.

Vandal

We’re having fun and whoever wins, wins. It’s a great game to play and I think both sides are enjoying it. 3rd capital - yep - but you are FP right?! Are you counting the Harad capital! Seems a bit harsh… You ain’t taken it yet…

Does that mean the Woodmen is still in the game - ah well. If you’d be kind enough to return my command items then we’ll call it quits.

While we’re all blowing hot hair - what you gonna do about the market?

Clint (player)

Market?? You HAD the market, and you just lost it…check the turn number on the top right of the page…16…THAT’s the one. Good thing about a relatively stable market, after it was on the precipice there…the Woodmen are still in the game…and the Northmen and the Eothraim…

That bit about “you are the FP right?!”…we do have enough MT’s to go around, you might want to take that into account when you get all proud of yourself. Jump and cheer, when you calm down and look around, you’re all alone on a dark and lonely 1 way street to doom.

Cheerio!

bb-fp

Carn Dum gets blasted. A bunch of guys die in Arthedain’s capital and it looks like the Dun cap is next for the character massacre. 15,000 or more is getting stolen by solo agents at FP capitals with no defense in sight. Mirkwood is solidly DS with the Dragon Lord about to take 2405. Multiple unidentified armies roaming the Rhovanion. Is this the end of the Free Peoples? Are those “Huge” Rhudaur armies with Ji Indur and multiple sickness squads going to squash the Crazy Canucks? Why does Din Ohtar love Dol Amroth so much anyway? The answers to these questions and more to come in the weeks ahead…

Brad da Freep

Well if you’d be kind enough to leave the QA alone then I reckon it was in da bag. As it is it’s going to be a slow grind in the south but not sure you can save the Corsair now with him down to 2 MTs, City and a few camps. You killed another character with assassination and a 3rd with a Curse this turn - that’s not cricket.

I must say the Dwarves are very good at recapturing PCs!

Just in case you wondered got a new record for gold stolen this turn - who needs to play with the market?

Clint (player)

Rhuduar and WK have lots of armies heading South/SouthWest, but they have yet to land on anything talk about cause damage. FK likelyl headed South now as there’s no way across the Anduin anymore…!

Corsairs still alive, DinO chasing shadows of viruses in QA lands. What are the odds the step-behinder is going to run off to Durthang this turn? Doesn’t look like we’re going to take the place, we only have 31 emissaries there and I expect we’d need 43. Drat, next time…

Blind Sorceror is the new Emissary power in Middle Earth. I must say, that’s certainly 1 way to play them. Adunaphel is finally sighted! Turn 18, good on ya, mate! Now, out of the Eoplex, shoo!

Brad da Freep

“Corsairs still alive, DinO chasing shadows of viruses in QA lands. What are the odds the step-behinder is going to run off to Durthang this turn?”

Ran out of other targets! If you’d be kind enough to get some more Cor or SG targets that would be a big help. Noldo squad might actually take out a character of worth soon. Shame the dragons didn’t come south with me like expected - so I’ll work on the Corsair capital a different way. Note you appear to have missed the part about SG’s pcs falling… (oh sorry that’s next turn).

“Doesn’t look like we’re going to take the place, we only have 31 emissaries there and I expect we’d need 43. Drat, next time…”

We’ll see - two squads might take it… I wonder if you’ve got two squads… A LOT of characters there - you get annoyed at the 60,077 gold I stole with the IK then? (New record for me btw).

As for Rhudaur etc - well we are just about to take the Arthedain capital in the next couple of turns methinks and then it’s a matter of clearing the board in the NW. Cardolan will be next but for now let’s see if we can actually take the Woodies out of the game - nice hidden capital btw.

Marketwise - why buy out when you can natsell for 29k? I’ll try to get my orders sorted this w/end but with 2 w/ends gaming I’ve run out of spare time at present.

Clint (player)

You’re “taking” the Arthedain capital? You’ve been drinking friend… Cardolan “next”? In what game??

Okay, for the voyeurs out there…

Mirkwood is mostly DS (well, lots of carnage so lots of DS camps…) excepting Woodie’s hidden capital Eothraim have lost 3112 and 3612 (early) and have the massive DS kill squad on his capital with various armies streaming over from the now clear Mirkwood. NMen getting some residual pressure, likely to increase (giving the guy some credit here, there’s always cards close to the vest, eh?). QA/LR/Whomever alone at the Havens of Umbar, Corsairs fighting out of their South Bank. Bridges across the Anduin blown so FK/Dog redirected to reclaim RIP Harad’s North Bank. A couple armies in SG land, cut off by weaker SG armies, but they won’t go far.

BS squad taken 2121 and 2223, the 3002 and 2904 also in enemy hands. Rhudaur about to do something nasty to 1510 with significant forces in both Arthedain and streaming towards Cardy capital.

So what’s the good news? Well, FP have 2 fully functioning Curse squads, DS restricted to Sickness. And we have reasonable emissary power, rapidly increasing in numbers and scope. We’re up a nation, none of ours are as small as some of his, and none of ours are in any significant trouble.

We also have a Plan, yes, a Plan. At the rate it’s going, it might be a 5 Year Plan, but it’s a Plan, and it’s Ours, and we like it. Of course, we Change it, no, Amend, er, Improve, um, Augment, whatever, the Plan, every 2nd day or so, but it’s still Ours and we Like it. In fact, we’re such “half full” folk, that we’re almost disappointed Clint’s military juggernaut is moving as slowly as it is…

This is going to be a long game… Turn 20 likely for next week, and we’ll all give it our best to get 21 in before Winter (when was that again? )

Brad da Freep

Thanks for the update. We voyeurs appreciate a little extra info now and then. <grin>

I’m very curious about Clint’s “banzai military scheme” - based on your comments, it seems to be producing some results…

“Banzai” - cough…

Made some mistakes or the game would be over by now, but that’s part of the fun. Second curse squad is annoying, been trying a lot to stop it but so far we’ve been dosey-doing around each other. So far it’s been ineffective - other than scaring me at the IK capital last turn - can’t really say anymore this turn but it could be bad again! If only I can get Dudannis (RoW) to stop being annoying that would be a great help.

NW is mine when and as turns get processed, can’t see them taking Rh/WK out now (well I can see how they can but it’s a long up-hill struggle for them to do so). Arthedain capital is say 3 turns? Maybe quicker if you’d be kind enough to have your army die at the capital this turn.

Mirkwood is basically fallen - working towards hitting the dwarven capital as time allows and keeping the Dunlendings from recruiting. BUT there’s things that could horribly wrong there this turn…

SG land - well I’m working through there - it’s always funny when the FP have to blow the bridge. We’ll see what happens long term in that area but as you can see the FP are on the defensive in all except one area.

Despite blowing up Harad myself (kudos for the pressure but I’d like to claim the first nation kill!) I’ve regained the south - should get Corsair down to 1 or 2 MTs this turn if it all goes right (in the south) (might even be out - can’t find the time to check right now).

Last major (or is that first Brad!?) assault on Mordor - should be interesting how that pans out. 3 turn plan for taking the NM out and then I’m not sure what to do. Saying that I can think of 10 things that could go wrong at least so…

…Wait for the One Ring victory I guess…

Clint (player)

One Ring…Ed, you reading? Care to give me an email on this? Who would you prefer to win this game, Brad or Clint? Come now, we can’t Both lose…!

Nobody’s out Clint, sorry. You might consider your history of prediction, or at least the voyeurs can: every time he claims 10 kills, he gets like, 3. Every time he claims to take 3 MT’s, he suicides on one and kills an army on another, maybe threatens a camp somewhere. Every prediction for “Woodmen in 2 turns” has failed. So, either he keeps trying, or he clams up. No fear for your Friendly Neighbourhood Freeps, we’ve never listened…

Clint

Brad: Methinks Clint may need a humbling experience.

Unless you’re playing for free Brad, I’d say Clint wins either way. <g>

So, Clint bankrupted his DS Harad and still won the south? I can’t in my wildest imagination see how that could have happened…
